Kim Kovac (she/her)
My journey to birth work blossomed during my second pregnancy and with my toddler by my side. I became captivated by the birth stories of friends and acquaintances; stories that spanned the spectrum of what pregnancy, labor and birth could look like, feel like and be; stories that were deeply personal and transformational. I was also in the midst of my graduate studies, focusing on the power of language and the abundance found in relationships and community. In this liminal space of academic expansion and emotional growth as a parent and birthing person, I completed the labor doula training at Birthingway College of Midwifery, and engaged in a year long apprenticeship with the Yoga Way to Birth group of childbirth educators.
Through birth work I have discovered my true calling, as each of my life paths continue to coalesce with such beauty and meaning. My doula practice is heart-centered and grounded in intuition, mindfulness, traditional comfort measures and evidence based information. I know pregnancy and birth to be a sacred passage that brings us to a place of intrinsic growth, a place that demands our attention and our self compassion, and I believe birthing people should be supported by informed choice and a caring birth team. To be of service to individuals and families through their own transformational experiences of birth, in their own uniquely exquisite forms is the truest expression of my passions and the gifts I have to give.
