Wildwood Birth Newborn Photographer Natalie

Natalie Woodrum (she/her)

I truly feel as though you can capture a person’s heart through photographs. We are surrounded by fleeting moments of magic that are gone in the blink of an eye, and my passion lies in documenting those interactions. Photographs are tools that teach empathy and love, and your children and grandchildren will undoubtedly flip through photos of you to better understand their roots and their home. As a photographer, it is my ethical duty to capture my subjects honestly and intentionally. My craft is a medium for telling your story, but ultimately, you are the storyteller. There is something incredibly beautiful and vulnerable about capturing a person as they open up in front of your camera lens. It takes a special connection-- one that I cherish with each and every person I photograph.

One of my first purchases after earning an allowance as a kid was an SLR camera. Growing up, I was always mesmerized by the photos my parents kept in random drawers in our house, and I’d spend hours studying the images. My mom and dad looked so young (and trendy! beards and trucker hats before they were ‘in’!), and in the photos, I could see the love they had for each other and for my sister and me. Since my dad passed unexpectedly, my mom, sister, and I have continued to send photos of his smiling face to each other. Photos have helped us celebrate the happiest of times, and they’ve helped us cope with the hardest.

I currently live in Portland, Oregon and photograph families, babies, and weddings. I’ve been a full-time photographer for over a decade, and I feel honored to have been invited into peoples’ safe spaces to document their lives and memories.

About Natalie

When I’m not working, I’m usually spending time with my five-month old son, Bruno, and my partner, Erik. We love to get out of the city in our camper, and we can be found biking for miles, skiing for hours, and enjoying whiskey cocktails (Bruno with a boob cocktail) around a campfire with our best friends. I also deeply cherish my alone time. No matter where I am, my camera is usually at arm’s length.

If you are looking for an amazing photographer who is extremely non-intrusive, Natalie is you girl! She is one of the most passionate and honest photographers we have ever met. She is a truly wholesome person, who loves her job.”
